The move, New Westminster to Delta

Start of the move - Leaving New Westminster

Andy Pearson leaning on trailer with white truck hitched up and ready to take load out of old Specialty Engineering shop in New Westminster

With the move to our new facility in Delta, Specialty Engineering had a busy 2009/10. After 29 years in New Westminster this was a huge undertaking. Andy is ready to start hauling the first load.

The front entrance of our new Delta shop offers easy access for parking & race car trailers. It is a huge improvement over the old shop.

Planning the shop layout

empty white warehouse of the new shop with 3 people

The ample natural lighting & white epoxy floors make for a bright, clean working environment. With lots of machinery and tools to fit in this empty workspace, significant planning was needed to properly setup work stations and utilize the available space.

Here is another pristine and empty room which has become the machine shop & engine builder area.

Time for some heavy lifting

Special flatbed crane trucks were needed to lift the heaviest machinery. In this picture the trucks have arrived in New Westminster to move the lathe & milling machines.

Loading Bay

The new shop has a large loading bay which can accommodate a full trailer if needed. Another huge improvement in space over the old facility. Things are starting to take shape as the first shelving units have been installed and loaded with supplies.
